I never read the whole manga--pretty much just the ending to see how the two stories differed.
--There are no spoilers here, but if you haven't read the manga you may not understand my synopsis--
To be honest, I like the way the manga ended better than the anime. It felt like Luchia grew a lot more as a person and went through a bit more with her pearl and princess-hood. I also like the little twist at the end (even if it was a little predictable, hahaha) because it really shaped Luchia and kind of tied things together nicely.
What are anyone else's views on it? If you haven't read, I suggest you do--it's quite enjoyable <3

I consider the manga ending the canon one, and world-build accordingly. It does show a lot more character development, and has more interesting fic possibilities. It also opens up the path of the old Aqua Regina's past, because if the pattern's been ongoing, she was a mermaid princess at one point in time.

That's true. Makes you wonder, what color princess was she?!

Hahaha that's a fun method XD It is mentioned that Luchia looks a lot like Regina and I think somewhere it is mentioned (though I think this only applies to the anime, not manga) that the seven mermaid princesses are the daughters of Regina. But really, who knows. I never realized how much mystery was involved and how much is still so unclear! Ahhh!!!

Well, the good thing about the clarity issue is that we have a lot of room to work with. If nothing's all that clear, more things can fit into a fic before it's considered an AU. I remember at one point in time trying to write the mythos of Pichi, and the original princesses were the daughters of the original Aqua Regina, but at this point in time, literally anything works. It makes sense that not much would be elaborated on, because Pichi isn't really all that serious. It's more about romance and girl power and world building, not that I particularly mind. World building's fun.

That is very true. I love creating the universe, MUAHAHAHAHA--*ahem*. I do love a lighthearted anime/manga every now and then. The heavy stuff leaves you a bit distressed sometimes But hey, that's what MMPPP is for <3
