General Rules

• Please be considerate and polite to all members
• Keep it PG-13: Safe for work and no excessive profanity
• Try to remain an active user
• Do not spam. One word replies are considered spam
• Do not double post in a thread. Use the edit button unless there has been a considerable amount of time since the last post or if you have new information to add to the thread. Double/multiple posting is also allowed for organizational purposes
• Obey the moderator team
• Please report anything that seems to be breaking the rules
• Failure to follow the rules may result in up to 3 warnings, a temporary ban, and then a full ban

Roleplay Rules

• Original characters must be approved by a moderator (Mermaid Royalty or Mermaid Adviser) before roleplayed with. Mermaid Council members still need to have their OCs approved.
• Canon characters may be played by different people in different threads. You must reserve your characters for each thread
• Before reserving a canon character for a thread, you need to post an in-character writing sample in the Canon Character Audition subboard. The sample needs to be approved by a moderator before you may reserve the character in a thread
• Staff are exempt from the above rule; if they're a moderator their writing abilities have already been proven
• We are a literate rpg. No script or *action* roleplaying. Posts need to be longer than one sentence
• No controlling a character that is being played by another in the thread unless given permission
• Be active in your threads
• Differentiate between in-character and out of character in roleplaying threads
• No smut or heavy gore, please
• All roleplaying should be done in the third person
